Is certification required to teach at a KIPP Dallas-Fort Worth school?
We require that teachers obtain certification within a reasonable period of time after being hired. As an open enrollment charter, all Bilingual and Special Education teachers must be fully certified by the state of Texas. All other teachers must be “Highly Qualified” under the federal No Child Left Behind Act.
How much teaching experience do I need?
We typically look for applicants with at least two years of full-time classroom teaching experience for lead teaching positions. On a case-by-case basis, we may consider candidates with less teaching experience who otherwise demonstrate exposure to excellence.
Can I apply for multiple positions?
Apply for any position for which you are qualified. Applying to a position at one of our campuses does not guarantee that you will be considered for another position at another of our campuses. Each school and department makes its hiring decisions independently.
Do I have to meet deadlines?
No. There are no deadlines for applying to KIPP DFW, but the earlier you apply the better your chances of being considered for a position.
Can I email, fax, mail, or hand-deliver my application?
No. Please apply online at our Job Board.
No one has contacted me—what’s wrong?
Please email our Talent Team at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have not heard from KIPP DFW within two business days of your application being submitted.
What are the key competencies of a KIPP DFW staff member?
Successful teaching candidates are highly reflective, value feedback, and constantly seek to improve their instructional practices. Qualified applicants for KIPP DFW have demonstrated a history of success in both instructional and non-instructional positions.
Are there growth opportunities?
Absolutely! We provide teachers regionally based professional development sessions on a weekly basis, as well as a variety of leadership training pathways, specifically the KIPP Fisher and Miles Family Fellowship.
What if I am not selected?
Gain more experience, hone your instructional skills, and reapply with us for open positions in the future. KIPP DFW is in the process of growing to ten schools in the next decade, and we will need excellent teachers.
Where can I get more information about the national KIPP movement?
Can I visit a KIPP DFW campus?
Yes! If you would like to attend a KIPP DFW Third Thursday, please RSVP. All Third Thursday events begin at 7:45 a.m. and conclude at 9:00 a.m. In addition to our Third Thursday events, if you would like a guided tour of one of our campuses, please contact email@example.com to schedule your tour.
Do teachers have written contracts?
No. All KIPP DFW employees are “at will.”
Do you participate in TRS?
Yes. Full-time employees, and many part-time employees, contribute to TRS.
